With all the cliffhangers (and in Baylan Skoll’s case, a real cliffhanger), the end of Ahsoka season 1 seemed to beg for a second season. But Ahsoka isn’t quite in the same camp as Andor, which was planned for two seasons, and The Mandalorian, which was picked up for a second season before the first one even aired.
People have always wondered if this show was supposed to move right into Dave Filoni’s already-announced Mando/Ahsoka crossover movie, or if more time was needed for setting up. I think most fans would agree that “more time” means a second season, given how it finished.
There is at least one new piece of information about all of this, and it comes from a Deadline report: “Some fans think that Dave Filoni’s stand-alone feature film, which will be the culmination of his Disney+/Lucasfilm world that includes The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, etc., will be about Thrawn, and that is likely to be the next step. But we’re hearing that Ahsoka Season 2 is becoming more likely, though nothing is set in stone yet. Tonight, there were no signs that hinted that Ahsoka would be back soon.
So, it sounds like Disney is moving toward a second season of Ahsoka instead of putting everything on hold until the Filoni film, which doesn’t have a release date or even a release window.
