The season of witches has finally arrived, and there’s no better way to celebrate than with the long-awaited and updated release of the sequel to The Exorcist, William Friedkin’s masterpiece from 1974.
Friedkin made a scary movie based on a book by William Peter Blatty called “The Exorcist.” Some moviegoers fainted or threw up in the theater, and the movie left a memory in the horror genre that few could have imagined.
But did you know that almost 50 years after the original, in 1974, Friedkin’s The Exorcist will be back on our screens in a direct sequel that will bring the fear into the 21st century just in time for Halloween?
The Exorcist Believer will have actors from the first movie, and it will try to make an effect that none of its other prequels did.
Here’s all the information you need about The Exorcist Believer
What is The Exorcist Believer about, and is The Exorcist 2023 a sequel?
The Exorcist has already had two sequels: The Exorcist II: The Heretic and The Exorcist III. However, The Exorcist Believer will be the first straight sequel to the classic 1974 movie and the first of two, with The Exorcist: Deceiver set to come out in 2025.
The movie will take place in the present day and be made by Jason Blum’s production company Blumhouse, which has made movies like Insidious and Sinister. David Gordon Green, who directed the recent Halloween remake, will be in charge of directing the movie. When two young girls go missing from their family home, the story starts. Even though the kids do come back, their parents know something is wrong.
The two start to act out, and their strange behavior makes their parents think it might have something to do with the supernatural. This makes their parents want to get help from exorcists.
The Exorcist Believer talks about it
Early reviews are mixed, with some saying that the movie doesn’t live up to the high standards of the series.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the film’s director, Jason Blum, told fans: “You come out kind of shaken, so be ready.” Early reviews seem to agree with the horror king’s thoughts.
Even so, people who saw a test showing of the movie said it wasn’t scary and was “too long.” But there is still a ban on reviews of the movie, so we don’t know for sure if it will get good reviews or not.
Linda Blair is the Exorcist Believer in The Exorcist 2023
The little girl who played Regan MacNeil in William Friedkin’s 1974 movie will be back in the modern-day remake ‘Believer,’ but we don’t know how big of a role she will have.
Ellen Burstyn, who played Regan’s mother Chris in the original, is also coming back for the remake of the famous horror film from the 1970s. In “Believer,” she gives advice to parents who have been through the same thing she did with Regan.
Leslie Odom Jr. will play Victor Fielding, Raphael Sbarge will play a pastor, Lidya Jewett will play Angela, Olivia Marcum will play Katherine, E.J. Bonilla will play Father Maddox, and Antoni Corone will play Father Phillips.
