A24’s Wrestling Drama, “The Iron Claw,” Shows Zac Efron and Jeremy Allen White Bulking Up and Breaking Down in the New Trailer

The untold true story of the inseparable Von Erich brothers, who rose to the top of the highly competitive world of professional wrestling in the early 1980s and forever changed the course of the sport. In the wake of heartbreak and success, and under the watchful eye of their tyrannical father and coach, two brothers strive for larger-than-life immortality on the most prestigious stage in all of sports.

Ac Efron and Jeremy Allen White have both been putting in work at the gym in preparation for their bouts in the wrestling arena, and they are now ready to do so.

Efron and White will be featured in the upcoming sports biography “The Iron Claw,” which just had its teaser released by A24. The movie stars Zac Efron as wrestler Kevin Von Erich, also known as the Golden Warrior. Kevin is a member of the famous Von Erich wrestling dynasty. Sean Durkin is the director of the movie. White appears alongside Kevin Von Erich in the film as Kerry Von Erich, Kevin’s brother and fellow heavyweight competitor. The starring role of Fritz Von Erich, Kevin and Kerry’s father and a three-time world champion, goes to Holt McCallany. The lives of many members of the wrestling family are examined in this documentary, which also traces the family’s rise to prominence and subsequent decline. Lily James, Maura Tierney, Harris Dickinson, and Stanley Simons also had roles in the production.

Even before the trailer was made available, the movie was getting a lot of attention due to the fact that both Zac Efron and Michael Jai White had put on a significant amount of muscle for their respective parts. The photos that revealed both Efron’s physique and his Von Erich-inspired bowl cut generated jokes across social media platforms, and White told GQ that he intended to put on 40 pounds of muscle for this role.

Although Efron was originally known for his roles in musicals and comedies, this will be his first dramatic biography since his performance as Ted Bundy in the film “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile.” White, on the other hand, is best known for playing lovable characters on television, first as Philip Gallagher in 11 seasons of Showtime’s “Shameless,” and most recently as the troubled yet delightful chef Carmy Berzato in FX’s blockbuster hit “The Bear.” His roles on these shows have brought him widespread recognition.

Both “The Nest” and “Martha Marcy May Marlene,” two of the writer-director Durkin’s most well-known psychological dramas, had their world premieres at the Sundance Film Festival. Durkin is noted for his work in both writing and directing these films. Although the Von Erich family is famous for their achievements in the sport of wrestling, the family’s private lives were marred by a string of misfortunes. Five of Fritz’s six boys passed away before the age of 33, and three of them did so by taking their own lives.

A24, BBC Films, House Productions, and Access Entertainment are the production companies responsible for “The Iron Claw.” On December 22nd, it will be available to watch in theaters.
